| The
Wheatsheaf Inn in Raby has always
been a popular and historic landmark
within the Wirral. With its thatched
roof, it has always been famously
known as ‘The Thatch’.
It is set in The Green, in Raby, surrounded
by farmland.
The Wheatsheaf
Inn has always been valued as a small
country pub and restaurant, with a
warm and friendly atmosphere.
The extension was planned to extend
the business to accommodate Wedding
Receptions and similar functions,
with full disabled access.
An existing barn is to be converted
to form a function room. The original
timbers will be retained, with alternate
roof timbers being added to allow
a larger, more open space.
All existing window openings will
be retained. New openings will replicate
the originals.
The existing barn archway edged in
sandstone is to remain, adding a feature
to the restaurant area, linking it
to the adjacent function room.
An extension to the rear, adjoining
the barn, will accommodate the new
restaurant.
The 3D image below shows a visual
of how the finished barn and extension
might look. |
